Pintu Incubator Returns to Paris Trade Show 2024 Showcasing Indonesian Fashion Brands at Première Classe

Highlight

PINTU Incubator, a bilateral program designed to empower young creatives and SMEs in the Indonesian and French fashion industries, is once again sending a curated selection of Indonesian fashion brands to participate in the prestigious Première Classe Paris 2024, a trade show held during Paris Fashion Week. Through this initiative, PINTU Incubator continues its mission to nurture talented young designers and foster the growth of sustainable businesses in the international market.

PINTU Incubator, initiated by JF3, LAKON Indonesia, and the French Embassy in Indonesia through the Institut Français d'Indonésie (IFI), serves as a visionary bilateral platform to empower young creatives and SMEs in the Indonesian and French fashion industries. This initiative bridges cultural diversity and fosters collaboration between local and global fashion ecosystems. PINTU Incubator has opened doors for numerous young brands and designers, offering them valuable insights and solutions for business growth through mentorship, consultations, and partnerships with leading organizations and figures from Indonesia and France. Additionally, the Incubator promotes cross-cultural exchange, fostering new fashion talents who embrace cultural heritage and engage with global trends.

Fabien Penone, French Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor Leste, and ASEAN, explained, "PINTU forges an innovative alliance between France and Indonesia in the field of fashion. Since its inception in 2022, the program has already been supporting over thirty-five designers in both countries. For this third edition, twenty French fashion designers and professionals will engage in a diverse schedule of business meetings, fashion shows, conferences, studio visits, and mentoring. By the end of the week, Indonesian designers will be selected to showcase their collections in Paris in September 2024. The PINTU program is a chance to collaborate with passionate individuals, exchange ideas, and challenge oneself in the pursuit of the international market."

In 2024, PINTU Incubator marks a new milestone by collaborating with École Duperré Paris, a prestigious fashion school in France. This renowned institution admits only a limited number of students each year, even for applicants from France. It will offer a six-month scholarship to selected participants of the PINTU program.

Thresia Mareta, Founder of LAKON Indonesia and co-initiator of PINTU Incubator, expressed her excitement, stating, “We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and positive recognition the PINTU 2024 program has received from various parties. PINTU was built with the vision of fostering a dynamic fashion ecosystem that unites the next generation of fashion leaders from Indonesia and France. It seeks to empower participants and drive growth, facilitating development and progress on both national and international levels. By becoming part of the global fashion ecosystem, we aim to create a meaningful impact and achieve tangible recognition within the international fashion industry.”

Soegianto Nagaria, Chairman of JF3 and co-initiator of the PINTU Incubator, stated, "As the biggest fashion festival in Indonesia, JF3 has consistently supported and empowered local SMEs for 20 years, including through the PINTU Incubator program, which focuses on nurturing young creatives and helping them grow their businesses. It is an honor to be part of PINTU Incubator and witness these talented young individuals gain recognition in the global fashion industry, while also contributing to preserving Indonesia's rich cultural heritage.”

This year marks the third time that PINTU Incubator will participate in Première Classe, taking place from September 28 to 30, 2024, at the Carrousel du Louvre, Paris. Two Indonesian fashion brands, Enigma and Senses, have been selected and are ready to make their debut on the international stage.

The "GALA Part 01" collection draws inspiration from the legendary folklore of Roro Jonggrang from Central Java. The collection honors this ancient Indonesian legend with garments in white and yellow, combining traditional patterns with modern textiles and silhouettes. Drawing inspiration from the landscapes of Central Java, the designs incorporate elements of spices, flora, and fauna. Founded by a young, talented designer from Jakarta, Fuguku offers contemporary products crafted using recycled plastic bottles. The brand debuted in 2022, drawing inspiration from the pufferfish, or "fugu" in Japanese. Fuguku’s fabrics are handmade using traditional Indonesian jumputan techniques (tie-dye) and recycled PET bottles. Committed to sustainability, Fuguku incorporates recycled materials and empowers local communities through its innovative approach. Their latest collection, "Way of Water," is inspired by the vivid colors and organic forms of outer space, combining traditional Indonesian craftsmanship with futuristic design elements.
