PINTU Incubator proudly celebrates one of its co-initiators, LAKON Indonesia, for taking the spotlight at the Osaka World Expo 2025. On August 8, LAKON became the centerpiece of the Jellyfish Pavilion’s Unified Diversity Fashion Show – SOROYURU, a celebration of harmony in diversity that united designers from nine countries. With heritage woven into every thread and innovation defining every silhouette, LAKON once again proved the strength of Indonesian fashion on the global stage.

At WASSE (Expo Exhibition Centre), LAKON presented a collection inspired by the woven heritage of Nusa Tenggara Barat. The designs blended traditional craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics, building a seamless bridge between past and present.

For this milestone, LAKON collaborated with Comfiknit, a Hong Kong-based label recognized for its sustainable textile innovations. “This collaboration was born from our consistency in building a creative and competitive fashion ecosystem. It proves that our efforts are gaining global recognition,” said Thresia Mareta, founder of LAKON Indonesia, co-initiator of PINTU Incubator, and Advisor of JF3.

More than a runway show, SOROYURU became a cultural dialogue. Designers from across Asia and beyond showcased collections that celebrated diversity, respect, and creativity. “For us, Soroyuru is more than presenting designs,” Thresia explained. “We brought Indonesia’s identity to the global stage and contributed to a story of diversity. When cultures respect each other, what emerges is not only beauty but also hope for a more harmonious future.”

The showcase also placed Thresia alongside acclaimed Japanese designer Shinshiro Mizuno, known for his work with Givenchy, Hanae Mori, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, and his own brands [fuse] and a licensed Givenchy bridal line. Sharing the stage with Mizuno underscored Indonesia’s rising credibility in the international fashion business.

Beyond the Expo, LAKON extended its reach with a pop-up store at Lucua Umeda, one of Osaka’s leading shopping centers, from August 7 to 13. The pop-up gave Japanese consumers firsthand access to LAKON’s design DNA, a blend of artisanal craftsmanship and contemporary style, while strengthening its positioning in the Japanese market.

LAKON’s presence at the Osaka World Expo marked more than a fashion achievement; it was a strategic act of cultural diplomacy. The impact stretched beyond the exhibition halls as ABC TV Japan (Asahi Broadcasting Corporation), part of the national TV Asahi network, broadcast the showcase to millions of viewers across Japan. This coverage emphasized not only the beauty of the collection but also the relevance of Indonesian creativity in today’s global fashion ecosystem.

As LAKON Indonesia stood proudly under the spotlight in Osaka, it carried the spirit of Indonesian artisans, the resilience of its designers, and the vision of a nation determined to leave its mark in global fashion. By standing at the crossroads of heritage and innovation, LAKON reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to building international connections, fully aligned with the mission of PINTU Incubator as a fashion incubator: to nurture bold ideas, empower creative minds, and prepare Indonesian brands to thrive worldwide through its incubator program.
