Jakarta, May 28, 2025 — In celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France, French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, along with her delegation, attended a special cultural program organized by the Institut Français d’Indonésie (IFI), PINTU Incubator, and Gramedia, from the Kompas Gramedia Group, which served as the event host. The event took place at the Traditional Kudus House, Bentara Budaya—a symbol of Indonesia’s living architectural and cultural heritage.

The event highlighted the spirit of creative collaboration between the two countries, with a particular focus on the PINTU Incubator—a bilateral initiative launched in 2022 to support young fashion designers from both Indonesia and France. Through mentorship, cultural exchange, and professional experience, the program connects emerging designers with experts, institutions, and the creative ecosystems of both nations.

Since its inception, PINTU has attracted over 10,000 interested brands, selected 51 participants, and engaged 86 expert mentors—including 33 from France. In 2025, PINTU launched its first Residency Program, offering a deeper space for collaboration and ongoing cultural dialogue.

The visit was designed as a curated cultural journey. The event began with an introductory video about the PINTU Incubator, followed by an introduction session with three representatives from the program’s participants. This was followed by the presentation of the book Ode to Indonesian Culture, which celebrates Indonesia’s living cultural figures, and a batik showcase by two renowned batik maestros: Dudung Aliesjahbana and Cahyo.

During this historic moment, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the PINTU Incubator and École Duperré Paris, a prestigious fashion and art education institution in France. The MoU was signed by Thresia Mareta, Co-founder of PINTU Incubator, and Alain Soreil, Director of École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré, and was witnessed by Rachida Dati and Soegianto Nagaria, Chairman of JF3. This partnership marks a strategic step forward in expanding international collaboration in education, culture, and the fashion industry—through student exchanges, residency programs, and the development of creative projects involving young designers from Indonesia and France.

The event concluded with a gamelan performance by the Kompas team, paying tribute to Indonesian traditional music, which once inspired the French composer Claude Debussy.

The event was also attended by several prominent figures from Indonesia’s arts and cultural scene, including Slamet Rahardjo and Jajang C. Noer, both senior actors and film directors, as well as renowned composer Addie M.S.

“This program is not just cultural diplomacy — it’s about how we grow together,” said Thresia Mareta, Co-founder of the PINTU Incubator. “Through PINTU, Indonesia and France are not only preserving cultural heritage, but also shaping a new generation of creators rooted in culture, dialogue, and mutual respect.”

In this celebration of 75 years of enduring friendship between the two nations, PINTU Incubator stands as concrete proof that bilateral cooperation can drive cultural innovation and nurture the creative industries of the future
